You may start to experience hot flashes. Keep a portable fan nearby, avoid spicy meals and alcohol, and eat foods high in hormone-balancing phytoestrogens like soy nuts or tofu.

Plunging hormone levels can result in changes in your libido and vaginal dryness. For lubrication, squeeze vitamin E from a capsule, then swab it along the vaginal wall.

You could also find yourself having night sweats, and occasional mood swings. Control stress with prayer, yoga, T'ai Chi, and meditation. Take a tepid Epsom salt bath before bed to help sleep better.

Prevent lose of bone mineral density by getting 1,200 mg. of calcium daily with 400 to 800 IU of vitamin D for absorption. Be sure to do weight-bearing exercise.

During perimenopause, which may begin as early as six years before actual menopause, the average women may only experience these symptoms once every few weeks. However, during menopause you'll find these symptoms will most likely occur much more frequently or even everyday.
